Today's haul

Post by Phono-Phan »

I got a call from a guy that wanted to sell an Edison Home. At first, I wasn't too interested as I have several already. He then said there are a lot of records and some extra parts. Curiosity got the best of me. I drove about an hour and came home with all this. Most of the records are brown wax. There are three brown wax records that are a little shorter. Does anyone know what they could be? I haven't tried to play them yet. The extra parts were well worth the trip. The early funnel horn is pretty nice also. The box for the cylinder records was made from an old Quaker Oats crate. There are two trays inside. The was another box of records that are mostly brown wax also.

I’m always amazed at just how much stuff you guys who are more experienced in the hobby are able to find. I’m constantly checking antique stores and I’ve only been able to find on poor condition Edison gold molded record. Congrats on your amazing haul!

I will have to get out my Columbia Eagle and try out the short brown wax records.

That is only the third horn like that I have seen in the wild. That alone had to be worth your trip and the superb wax cylinders WOW

The short brown wax cylinders are likely 1892-1893 Columbia records with Washington DC announcements. Congratulations!

Thanks for the information George. Were there shorter boxes for these? None of the boxes with these records were shorter.
