Psstt....don't mention the BELTONA!

The case clearly exhibits a "Beltona" decal. The motor is engraved clearly with "Beltona". The soundbox is the correct "Beltona Tournaphone" but nowhere does the auctioneer identify this horn machine as a Beltona. Are they blind? Or are they deaf? The poor machine is shouting out "Beltona!" but no one is listening. It is a British machine too, not German. Oh well!

Even worse, it's described as a "Funnel Gramophone".

Even after making allowances for English not being their first language, this is a sloppy inaccurate description.
The machine probably dates from not long after 1912, when the Beltona name was registered by the J.G.Murdoch Group.
From 1927 Beltona was under the control of Edison Bell, and when Edison Bell failed in 1933 it was acquired by Decca.
The Beltona record label specialised in Scottish vernacular music and survived until 1982.

I think that's just the website using autotranslate - probably listed as "Trichtergrammophon".

In that case, I prefer funnel gramophone. :)

(I didn't realize it started out in another language.)
