Columbia Symphony Grand motor removal

Post by Glen H »

I am having issues trying to get the motor board out of mine, i know there is not a lot of room for the removal, but it seems like something is hanging up, keeping it from being removed. I am trying to get it out to give it a good clean and see what type of crank arm i need. I rescued this thing from going to the dump, it is in amazing shape. If anyone has any tips or ideas i would greatly appreciate any and all.

A photograph or two might help. Off the top of my head maybe the winding handle is broken and stuck

You need to unscrew the on/off-speed control lever from the side of the case (ccw),
and then the motor board with motor can be lifted up and out of the interior.
Be careful of dragging the barrel gear across the front lip of the case when removing.
It is a tight fit.
