Re: Interesting spruce horn on Ebay...
Be very cautious with this sale. My knowledge of Music Master spruce horns is limited but I have concerns. I would expect the outside to be very dark and done in a mahogany color. I would expect the inside to be very blond and natural. The wooden cone that goes into the horn elbow is the biggest "red flag". The Music Master horns that I have seen all had a metal small end. I suspect the wood cone connection at the end is a funky repair that acts as a splint over a damaged area that also serves as the connector to the elbow. The wood cone could also be somebody's way of modifying a Music Master horn with a Talk-O-Phone (or Zonophone or ?) small end for use on a Victor. I'll be very curious to see what others say about the color, and more importantly, the small end. Jerry Blais

I would agree 100% concerning the wood cone adaptor. Most likely that small end of the horn was damaged at some point and this wooden cone was a custom adaptor to correct the problem. I would like to see deep into the throat of that bugger...
As far as color, it probably was refinished at some point in it's life, probably the same time the adaptor was made.
