A Record with the White and Gold Victor Batwing label

Post by NE-VICTOR-MAN »

Hi-
I have a 12" single sided Victor White and Gold labled record. There are no stamps on the disc other than VE in a circle. The typed info on the label is :
M'Appori Tutt" Amor - Last Rose of Summer from "Martha"
Master Stewart Brady - Soprano
Catherine B Swint at the piano
Again there is no catalog, matrix or take number indicated. Could this be a single pressing of a private recording?
I have found that Stewart Brady was a famous Boy Soprano in the late 1920's I have been unable to locate any listed recordings for Stewart Brady in any of the Victor catalogs of that period. Has anyone information regarding Stewart Brady or recordings he may have made ?
Thank You :?:

Stewart Brady was a famous child prodigy, equally talented as a singer and pianist. Among his many accomplishments was his featured appearance (at the age of 10) at the grand opening production in 1929 of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Read all about him...

Sounds like you have a private recording of this young talent.

The White Victor label was usually used for test pressings [especially when found with the information printed by a typewriter]. If the information is
in the usual gold ink, then I would agree with the above, that it's a vanity
pressing, done in small numbers. :)

I am interested in knowing if you found out any more about your record.

In the link I supplied, the organization founder and friend of Stewart Brady mentioned that he thinks has some of the only recordings made.

Did you try and make contact with him and pick his brain?

James.
