Greetings all -
It was in 2008 when I made my original Edison Long play phonograph YouTube video... but since then i've upgraded to an HD camera and have been making my videos in high definition.
I haven't played my model 3-C Long Play Edison record since that video... so many people warn me of the damage caused just by playing... and how delicate prone to skipping the Edison LP is.
..but for posterity sake, I made another LP video in HD and wanted to share with you all. Note if you watch the video on the actual YouTube page, you can change the settings to view in 720p.

...and the original non-HD video.

...and unfortunately the archives or the weekly "Featured Phonograph" showcases are no longer updated and but this is the archived thread for Featured Phonograph No. 14
Enjoy! Thanks for looking!

Re: Edison Long Play 3-C phonograph
One of my FONDEST Edison phonograph memories is working on a Chippendale Console with the Long Play gearing and reproducer, and listening to a 12" long play go on for 20 minutes per side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so nice to hear all that good music, and have the machine shut off automatically!
The LP system WORKED........... if you didn't have an uneven floor, if you didn't walk towards the machine while playing, and when you didn't have sinful thoughts!

Re: Edison Long Play 3-C phonograph
Thanks Wyatt - yeah... I had to walk with very light feet while recording this beast of a machine!
Given all it's faults... and bad launch timing... it still says something for 'ole Edison that the vision of a "long play" record did not come into the mainstream for a good 25-30 years later.
