These are rarer than the Pooley Victrola and just as historically important to the British market and normally fetch around £1000! If I had the space.......

Quite disgusting to see such price for a rare, well built and historically relevant machine. I have one in not as nice condition as the one advertised, and at the time I paid much more than the price asked for this one.Steve wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 12:28 pm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/167523784587

I cringed while watching it "playing" in the listing.

Yes, sorry, I should have forewarned people about that! Isn't it strange that setting the arm down on the wrong side of the record with the needle obviously chiselling away at the grooves, seems to be the default setting for non-experts? How did so many people become so dim?

To hell with it, I'm going to buy it!
I might need to knock down a few walls to make room but..........I'm a collector, we do these sort of things for our passion!

Yes, I did, of course!

I won't be collecting it for a few weeks though. That gives me enough time to knock out those walls!

Well done, Steve! It is a very well built machine with its marcheterie ornaments and three-spring motor. I do not utilize it too frequently, but it is nice to play acoustic records. It is bulky though, so you may have to make decisions about which useless pieces of furniture, like a dinner table, a bed or a sofa, will have to go to fit the new machine.Steve wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 4:02 am Yes, I did, of course!Well, no one else was going to and it was a rather pitiful show!

Thank you, Carlos. Yes, I am contemplating the full-time and permanent eviction of myself from the house in order to prioritise the collection!CarlosV wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 6:24 amWell done, Steve!
