Wanted Columbia Eagle 'B' parts

Post by Homestead »

Wanted Columbia Eagle Parts....Purchased the Columbia B at the silent auction at the APS Midwest Show, wife liked it and thought it was "cute". Ok now, realize this is the first time she has showed interest in phonographs personally. Now she claims 2 of the small ones cause they are cute! (This is real progress, brothers). OK it is a parts machine that I now have to rebuild. Can you help me. I need the following:
The feedscrew drive gear/shaft,
Nickeled Governor Weight and spring,
one screw and washer for the Governor weight
Speed Control Knob
Belt Cover
Broken Spring
Stylus for reproducer
I realize I will probably have more money in the machine than it is worth, but getting the Mrs on board makes it worth it! James Manker

Hi James!

I believe that Brian at the phonograph shop online has the springs. The speed control will be hard to find. My friend, Joe, from Florida told me that you can find a very similar type screw, with a knurled head, at ACE hardware. He said you have to drill the hole out and tap it at a slightly larger size. Hopefully someone can help you with the governor weight. I hope others can help out here more than me! It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife at Donnelly's and then at the expo! I am glad your wife is on board with this Eagle. They are nice little phonographs, and, I agree with you--you might have more moeny into it, but it is worth it since your Mrs. likes it!!!!

Nickeled Governor Weight and spring,
Interesting to see (what appears to be) a fairly common brushed steel Columbia Eagle with nickel plated governor weights. The early Nickeled and Polished Columbia Eagles and the Columbia AB have the nickel plated governor weights but I don't believe I've seen nickel plated weights on a brushed steel Eagle from the factory. Good luck in your search.

Doug
