Silvertone Help
Trying to help a neighbor with his Silvertone upright. See the pics - the reproducer has a crack and seems to be missing a way to connect it to the tone arm. Any thoughts? Allan

Can y'all please check your parts boxes for a Silvertone reproducer. I agree, this one is toast.

Re: Silvertone Help
If the back is still solid and fairly flat, i.e., not warped, it can be repaired and used with good results. The front ring has split because it is screwed to the back, which is massive, and has swelled, has augmented dimensions, and has forced the front ring to break.
The difficulty rests on stabilizing the front ring in its new slightly larger shape, sealing the crack, and freeing it from the back so it can be disassembled and reassembled with ease. The crack can be refilled with araldit or any of those liquid metal two-component mixtures so the ring stays in this larger size. of course, it will need new fresh gaskets of the right size, and presumably the mics diaphragm will continue being usable if it's on good shape, because the change in diameter is very small...
