Folks,
Today I am offering a horn that in 40 years of collecting, I have found only one example. This one. The form of this horn is a standard 14" horn. However, it is different. Instead of a brass bell, it has a zinc bell, and is completely japanned black. In this listing, I have included an ad for all brass, black and brass, and this simple japanned 14" horn. In the day, this horn would have been cheaper, and value priced. Apparently they didn't sell well, as this is the only example I have ever seen. I am sure there is at least one more out there, but in this condition?
The horn itself is in stunning condition, with all original japanning. It is straight with only a minor ding in the body. The zinc bell retains nearly 100% of the original japanning on the inside, and has some loss on the outside. Zinc didn't retain paint well over time, so this one is an extraordinary example.
