For me it seems to be spurts of the forum running at full speed and then being flatlined for 5-10 minutes.

I've allowed third party cookies to see if it improves... We will see...

My fingers are crossed, but should this forum go down, remember there is an alternative:

Despite server problems and struggling to get on here for the past few days. This forum still draws, the most traffic. Plus, I get a quicker response for a thread than I do on the APS forum or The online Edison Phonograph forum.

I have contacted David (The Man) directly to see if he is aware and can fix it.

David has advised me that he is aware of the situation and will work on it tonight. That’s all we can ask, after all, it’s a free forum and although not perfect, a great resource. Thank you, David!

The APS forum will never replace The Talking Machine Forum.
Mostly because everyone knows this forum better, I always see "the forum" (being this forum).
Also because the APS Forum is within the APS website while as this is just its own site.
That's my theory on it.

The APS Forum was never meant to replace this one in a competitive sense. Five years ago this forum was down for several days, so the APS quickly developed a forum in order that collectors would have one. Meanwhile, the TMF was resuscitated, (and has been several times when its performance has deteriorated). Unfortunately, all images from 2009 up to a couple of years ago have been lost. It's a shame, but just remember that, should this forum go down permanently, there is an alternative.m_nakamura wrote: Mon Jul 28, 2025 1:09 am The APS forum will never replace The Talking Machine Forum.

The site is intermittently unusable because there is often extreme latency. It goes beyond slow to total dysfunction.
The problem is worse if I approach the site from a local IP address, slightly better if I approach it from a US proxy.
Some days it is so bad that I don't bother to check in to see what is happening.
Slow but working today.
