The Voice of the Victor Jan 1929

Post by MarkELynch »

Although printed in huge numbers and sent to every dealer and jobber, this trade journal is rarely found today. Like most periodicals it was tossed when obsolete. Here is a survivor from 1929, prior to the purchase by the RCA. Notice the color ad inside the poster service, these posters surface occasionally but are also somewhat rare.

Hey Mark,
Great publication, thx for posting-and you are right posters of the kind shown in that booklet are hard to find!

Thanks Abe, in 45 years of collecting I’ve only found a few!
The card has a fold-out easel on the back.
Any others out there?

I managed to acquire a small stack of these a few years ago. Would be great to get the whole run complete and digitized.

Has anyone ever seen the October or November 1925 issue?

The Voice of the Victor is one of the major period talking machine publications that has not been digitized and posted online. I hope that it will happen someday!

There are some online. Somewhere I have other links to other archival sources, but here is one such link to Hagley Digital Archives. This is an amazing collection of historical publications.

If you go to ebay, there are several copies available-but only in Espanol' and from $50-150.
While the link that Walt posted has only 3 one of them does focus on a Victor RE-45 one of my workhorse machines and they are really easy to read copies.

Digital is good but being an old dude I print something like these out on good stock and bind them. I will display that one issue with the RE-45.

Any more out there?

Do you need an original RE-45 owner's manual? I can mail you one; I have stamps.

That would be wonderful! I do have one but it is really poor shape. I got it at an APS show about 10 years ago but it was falling apart. I cleaned it (I am an art restorer) but much of it was eaten by bugs and mice-but it was the only one that I have gotten my hands on. Its encased in plastic because if you touch it bits fall off.

I could PM my address to you if that works.

Thx Abe
