September 11, 1907: Peter Weber filed for a U.S. patent for a “Phonograph Horn Crane.” This would become the ubiquitous Edison horn crane supplied with a variety of Edison models beginning in October 1907.
September 11, 1909: Peter Weber filed for a U.S. Design Patent (eventually granted as No.40,347) for “Phonograph Cabinet.” This would be marketed as the Edison Amberola 1A.
September 11, 1936: Died: Byron G. Harlan, pioneer tenor recording artist.
