Today, Google celebrates the 160th birthday of Emile Berliner with a nicely done logo, although the machine itself is obviously not a trademark, the "oo" are clearly two 1890's Berliner records. I can even the etched angel.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is only appearing on google.de? I can't find it on the Google UK or US sites, which is a shame given how his invention allowed practical disc recording worldwide.

Interesting, indeed, the logos were only applied to Google Germany, Austria, and Switzerland: http://www.google.com/logos/, although it would still appear when I went to Google US.
Looks like you'll only get real US Google displayed when using an IP from a US provider. How I hate these pseudo-intelligent IP filters...
