Folks,
Here is a really, really hard to find set up for a Victor front mount phonograph. It is an extended arm set up, including the extension, tone arm, and correct horn. The horn is approximately 27inches, takes a leather elbow, and never had a hanger on it. It is a correct horn for this set up, and came with it. The tone arm is approximately 20 ½ inches. It has the correct oversized horn bail.
Nice original finish on all surfaces, with really good nickeling.
I believe this would work on a Monarch, or MS, possibly even a Monarch Jr. I have none of those machines to test this out, so please make your own measurements.
Here is a great chance to really dress up your machine, and have something that few other collectors have!!!
Price is $475.00. It can be shipped at the owners expense, or delivered to Wayne or Stanton's in the fall.
Please contact me at [email protected] with interest.

With the front mount machines the larger the horn the more weight there was on the record.edisonplayer

Great set-up Shawn- and a good price-- Very tough to find.
Here's a pic of mine on a Victor M-- (since sold) Wish I had a better pic of the tonearm-- Those extended arms make a beautiful set-up.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but shouldn’t the horn be a Victor horn? Was this option for just the arm extension and you used whatever horn you had? Very nice addition to a machine!

That depends on the length of the support arm. A longer horn needs a longer arm. Using a longer horn on an arm meant for a short one would actually reduce the weight of the needle on the record, since more of the horn’s mass would be in front of the pivot/fulcrum.edisonplayer wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 8:50 am With the front mount machines the larger the horn the more weight there was on the record.edisonplayer
I have, somewhere, an old Victor or Berliner (I forget which, at the moment) catalogue reprint that shows several longer-than-original horns and the longer support arms and traveling arms to go with.
Important to get all the right bits together.

Tom,
I would love to see that reprint catalog. Here is my extended arm Victor MS models. The one with the single double hump tone arm support is the only one I have come across in over 40 years of collecting. The horn has to be aluminum because of the weight. What Shawn is offering is a great upgrade to your Victor.

Very nice machines, Ken. I do like the early, front-mounts, especially with optional big horns. They look a bit cartoonish to me, which is a good thing.
I found my catalogues. They were reprinted in the early 1970s by Allen Koenigsburg.
Here are some pages, relevant to the topic of discussion here. This first set from a Berliner catalogue.
