Obviously, I don't know your age, but surmise that you are relatively young and don't appreciate old family belongings... I get that, since most people are like that. Sometime in the future, after the money is spent on some other current whim, you won't have either one. I thought that way, but now would love to have anything of my dad's or grandparents.

Do what you want, but apparently this was important to your dad and you might want to hang onto it, if not for yourself, do it for future family - someone might really appreciate the connection. It usually takes getting older to feel this way... Just a thought, for what it's worth.

Some times we don’t know what circumstances are. The original OP has asked valid questions on the value of this family gramophone. If this is part of a legal will, perhaps selling would be needed to pay off any liens against the estate?

Being 65 years old I’ve had to deal with my parents estate plus several elderly relatives. After a while it’s all just a bunch of too much old stuff to deal with. It’s nice to be sentimental but you really can’t keep it all.

I grew up in the Rockford Illinois area. Many families of Swedish heritage. After a while it wasn’t surprising going to an estate sale of a 1950-60’s house. And finding in the basement a whole other estates from the great grandma and later grandma. Glad I was just visiting!

As phonograph collectors we do appreciate these machines and records. But remember to others it’s just clutter. That’s how we get new finds.
