Nearly 3 weeks later and not a single bite. Crikey, the market is seriously dead.

I think the entire collection may be a lot for any one person to take on.Steve wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 7:11 am Nearly 3 weeks later and not a single bite. Crikey, the market is seriously dead.

Re: FOR SALE: HMV/Columbia/Decca and other portables
I understand and agree but if two or three collectors were interested it might be different but no one has approached with any kind of offer. I'd perhaps consider buying ⅓ of what is left (I already bought the other half of the collection last year!) if anyone else is interested but I certainly can't entertain all the rest of it on my own. I don't possess a vehicle big enough to collect it all for a start!

It doesn't seem an easy sale, except if a dealer jumps in. A private collector is not likely to buy 37 portables in one run. Besides that, it must be someone approachable by car, as packing and shipping all that would be incredibly expensive. It's like buying in one purchase an entire lifetime collection!
Only my opinion... I may be wrong...

Well, I did buy the other 30-odd last year but then I am probably mad. I've bought a lot of machines from countries most collectors wouldn't dare risk buying from and my m.o. could best be described as unorthodox!Inigo wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 9:13 am It doesn't seem an easy sale, except if a dealer jumps in.
