Cleaning An Orthophonic Cabinet

Post by gemering »

I’ve gone over the new to me Victor 8-35 cabinet with GoJo and white cotton t-shirt scraps 5 or 6 times over the past two weeks.
I’m still getting what looks like a lot of dirt on the rags.
I hesitated to use 0000 steel wool on a later cabinet.
Is this typical?
Is there a better method?

Thanks,
Gene

You’re supposed to use at least two full rolls of paper towels when you Gojo. Looks like you’re close.

Another friend insists on Simonizing his cabinets, so that might be an alternative option for you.

PS
Those rags are only from cleaning number 5.
I've gone over this cabinet 4 times previously over the past two weeks.
This cabinet must of sucked up dirt like a sponge!
Looks clean to the naked eye.
