I'm looking for a mainspring for one because I was able to find a US Seller that was selling a HMV-Electrola 101 on eBay and got it for a reasonable price. Great condition No. 4 soundbox I'll send to Wyatt sometime soon. Catch is the mainspring is broken or unhooked. I also need a video tutorial on how to do a teardown a no. 59 motor too. I might have to import a mainspring from the Netherlands and probably pay more than I paid for the machine in tariff fees to get to my area.

Seems a shame that the link to the HMV 59 motor teardown, posted yesterday, has been deleted.

I deleted it from this post and sent it, along with a video I found, to Andy via PM. I felt it was slightly off-topic to the OP's post, which requested a source for a complete replacement motor.

In any event, here it is again in case anyone needs it:

Also, here's a YouTube search page with a number of videos showing the tear-down and repair of the 59 motor -- https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... 22motor%22

Thanks. I understand but I think the links could be useful to anyone searching ‘HMV 59 motor’. They also show a picture in case anyone has one.

Since web pages are fleeting, at best, I created a PDF version of the instructions in case anyone want's a permanent copy:

I tried reaching out to the author, who posted the instructions online back in 2014, for permission to post this, but could not find contact information. Please note the "disclaimers" at the top of the document.

Well, for starters, it would be a decent thing to begin your own thread and not continue to hijack Soundgen's topic.

Next, contact Brian Parlier, https://thephonographshop.com/collections/mainspring tell him what you're looking for, and if you know the dimensions of the spring you need, it's possible that he can make one up for you.

I apologize for doing that, I was in a crummy mood and went back to this thread because I had asked a question about that spring earlier and wasn’t sure where to go. But looks like Brian is my best bet! 👍
