12" Opera, Theatre, Musical and Play Records

Post by m_nakamura »

I have a lot of red Victrola records that are 12" in size that contain various French, Italian, American stage and screen. Are these worth anything? They are in excellent shape.

Some (particularly those who aren't interested in classical/operatic music) will give you a blanket "no," but I'd say that's a bit like asking "Are Edison diamond discs worth anything?" It all depends on what's on the records. For instance, most Caruso records are too common to be worth much, but Ellen Beach Yaw's records, or at least some of them, are harder to find and go for more. As usual, the real value of the records is in the enjoyment of the music.
