Shawn,

The handwind Berliner that's equipped with a motor has an electric motor, not a spring motor. You can see the brushes on the right side of the motor. It appears to be a bi-polar motor, laying on its side, with the field pole windings pointing away from the photographer.

Yes, if you read the advertising piece he shows in the video, it clearly states "direct current."
