February 25, 1873: Born: Enrico Caruso, acclaimed Italian operatic tenor who established a worldwide audience through his Gramophone Company/Victor records.

February 25, 1925: Earliest recording date for an issued Columbia electrical recording: six different selections by Art Gillham, which would be released in May.

It's wild to think we've never heard the true extant of Caruso's voice since he died before the electrical process.
