This is pure speculation, but one other possible meaning for "L" occurs to me. Maybe it's for "lateral," and somewhere out there in the wild is another Adelphi reproducer set up for vertical cut records and marked "V." Note that the "S.R.C." has periods, suggesting an abbreviation, whereas L has none, suggesting a label or model designation.
