Inspired by Jerry Van’s recent post about pre dog horns:
I have three front mount machines with new leather elbows:
Johnson Victor Monarch (pre dog tag says Victor)
Johnson Victor type C (pre dog tag says EJ)
First version Columbia AJ top wind.
I’ve purchased the black replicas that Justin sells at JAS Antiques. It’s come to my attention that he also sells brown ones. Can anyone tell me what would be correct or incorrect for these machines if possible? Did manufacturers use specific colours?
Does anyone have a machine they feel confident that it’s just as the manufacturer intended?
Thanks for your input!

Re: Leather horn elbows: which colour?
I always felt the black elbows should be on black or black and brass horns and brown elbows on brass…I don’t have any proof that this was the way they left the factory. It even my have been a decision of the purchaser at the dealer…
