I have used these gripping screwdrivers, in a couple different sizes, for many years. The first one I had actually belonged to my dad and likely dated back to the 60's or 70's. Dad was an electrician and used a long, insulated shaft, gripper screwdriver when installing screws in tight (energized) spaces.
The small ones, like Mark pictured, are great for governor screws as well as those pesky reproducer diaphragm screws. I've relied on them more and more over the years-- As I get older, some of my fingers seem to be morphing into thumbs! :)

Definitely worth a try. Those governor screws are a pain to keep aligned while attempting to install. I put one in my Amazon cart.

Another clever design used for grabbing screw heads is made by "Quick-wedge" and is extremely useful, if a little expensive. Their screwdrivers work by contractng the two (slightly splayed) side-by-side blades which have been carefully ground together and which expand into the screw head slot when an outer sliding sleeve is moved towards the screw head :
