The genuine Chromagram on Ebay is being sold by Alastair who is a member here and friend of Roger's. That is a lovely and original machine at a quarter of the price. Why wouldn't you simply buy that instead of the heap under discussion?

Exactly. Junk machine AND non-original tonearm AND tonearm the wrong way round causing record-destroying tracking AND some poor misguided owner has fitted a wooden tonearm rest to accommodate it in that orientation!!!

Well as far as the external cabinets you have shown, (apart from the type of wood), I am at a loss ........ the style of lid etc. look fairly similar ?

Roger is the leading Chromogram expert here and he has already stated it is not a Chromogram so I'll happily go with his judgement on this. As far as what I've said or shown so far, I'm just making the point that this is not a good example of anything, irrespective of its origins, as the arm is not original to it or fitted correctly and the horn is just a simple "table model" type. However, it is ridiculously over-priced, so why wouldn't you simply buy Alastair's MP22a instead, if you want a Chromogram and save £250?

If we say for a minute it might have started life as a Chromogram, it has certainly had a very hard life and the horn has also been lost to posterity and replaced with god-knows-what behind a cheap DIY-like ply fascia. The motorboard and tone-arm rail also look to be a little cheaply made or perhaps DIY too?

Whatever it is, it certainly isn't worth £350!
