HMV 150 - lid support stuck

Good evening,

I have recently acquired an HMV 150 in pretty good condition apart from , naturally the grill fabric is tired and the

lid support is stuck open

Fortunately one side was unscrewed from the lid but I have oiled , picked out the muck and the hinge refuses to operate and close.

There is some wear to the joint and side play but am I missing something very basic why this is not working, your assistance will be appreciated

You probably know this but the lid support needs quite a lot of pressure to close it.
