How to remove the spring barrel of a late VV-50

Post by phyi9530 »

Hi all, I'm trying to clean the motor of a late VV-50 with serial number 87882 and trying to remove the spring barrel. However, I am stuck as I could not remove the nut that holds the spring winding gear. You may see from the video below that I tried to unscrew the nut and it knocked onto the frame of the motor. With that, the nut is stuck. I have tried some force to push it to right but to no avail. I am not familiar with VV-50 motor, but would hope that I can get to it. I would really appreciate any guidance on how to go about it. Thanks so much.

Well, ain't that a bi*ch?

The screw has got to be very close to coming out. I would trim away the motor frame a bit to make some clearance. Do you have a small Dremel grinder that can get in there to relieve frame?

Hi Jerry, thanks so much for the advice. I have bought a mini grinder and trimmed slightly the motor frame, and it works. The screw is now out and I have access to the spring. Thanks so much again.
