This weekend in PA GET YOURSELF THERE

Post by Homestead »

I will be posting this also in machines section, but this is an absolutely wonderful collection coming up this weekend IN PERSON ONLY not online....I'm in Texas so I can't go. I expect the prices to be cheap due to the small-time auctioneers policy. Auction being held in church fellowship hall. No online, No phone bids, No absentee bidding...but if you live in that area...great machines for example...Berliner Trademark, Hexaphone 101, Edison Concert, Columbia Home Grand and another Grand, Triumph repeater, Edison Amberola 1B with all 3 type reproducers L M Dia A, wood horns galore, everything you would want but it is only in person....too bad for me, maybe some of my fellow collectors will fill some voids in there collections hopefully...did I mention Music boxes, reginaphones (2) coin op music boxes (the big ones) https://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/4130470.html Just check the auction photos here https://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/phot ... &zip=&kwd= I have absolutely no financial interest in this....just want to get the word out on this hidden gem of an auction. I dont want some local buying some rare stuff and chalk painting it! If any of you get some of these gems please post back! James Manker

That's complete and utter madness. I presume this must be part of a diseased estate sale?

They'll get about 5% of the proper value of any item selling everything this way.

That's how I see it. Others think differently. This is why it is important to have a reference book of your collection and honest appraisal of value for insurance and estate planning. Even when the kids roll their eyes at your crazy collection...they will be glad they send it to Stanton's, Donely's, Morphy's or someone in the know. Not a local auctioneer selling John Deeres and manure spreaders! Leave contact info in the front of the book to help them. I wonder if the auctioneer was planning to keep it small and make money by reselling some of his "buddies" wins on eBay....nah, no one would take advantage of a widow or gen Xrs

Jim,

Another negative is that all items must be removed the day of the auction. That limits a potential bidder to the size of his vehicle. This auctioneer is absolutely doing nothing to accommodate anybody.

Just FYI, this is in the Allentown, PA general area, not a bad drive from New York City or Philly.

...But note that out-of-state and out-of-region checks will not be accepted! This is the craziest auction arrangement I've ever seen.
