I am nearly convinced that it is "folk art" made from combined parts, but, among other things, the idea of a turning carousel during play is very inventive and charming. This is one of the cases where I prefer "originality" of a unique art object to originality of a serialised product.

That is one amazing sale bill. Surely not something you see every day. I always wonder how people store all that stuff, wonderful as it is. It would be fun to see but when it comes to buying my guess is pretty premium prices are going to be the norm. I guess it makes me happy to find a machine at local sale as its usually just local folk and many don't see the value in old phonographs.

I saw this about two weeks ago. Having trouble getting past the "rubbish" comment. Most folks would love to have just about anything from this collection. Oh well I will probably get into trouble again. LH

There is a strong chance it is an original machine or at least cobbled together at the time it was a new phonograph. I know that in Spain there was a practic of taking victor parts and building unique cases that fit the tastes of the day. Some even had both internal and external horns in one unit. There may be an example from this auction, the machine with a spear tip horn and a wonky case.

I am surprised that an accomplished collector of phonographs would have a crapophone in his collection.
