I'm not going to do too much more with the finish. Just a few more Gojo-gos to get the rest of the accumulated gunk off of it, then Howard Feen'n Wax polishing. I do have a friend who can do French polishing, but I'd rather leave it alone for now.

It does sound great. By the way, the gold Exhibition that I'm using on it was rebuilt some time ago by Ortho_Fan...This is a good machine for it.

My VV-120 looks so plain-Jane next to it, but that one has a piano finish, so I am loath to dispose of it.

I don't know; haven't seen enough of them! The three I know well are at Jasper's: in red mahogany, circassian walnut, and American walnut.

Acc. to LFTD (p. 103), the XVIII was available in red and English brown mahogany, American walnut, Circassian walnut, and Vernis Martin finishes. Total production was 3,407 spring, 994 electric. List price was $300 at introduction in Aug. 1915, reduced to $250 in Dec. 1916 (plus $50 for electric and $50 for the walnut veneers). Baumbach has no further info. on quantity of the various finishes produced. Production seems to have ceased in mid-1917, a rather short production run. (See also the Victor Data Book, pp. 146-7.)

After the 2nd Gojo cleaning...I probably still have a couple to go; there's still a lot of brown gunk coming off. But you can really see the difference.

Adam, don't you dare push that beautiful machine around on your parquet floor, with those floor-gouger casters! I recently purchased a set of four teflon caster cups/pads and placed them under the wheels of my XI; I also applied a coat of Pledge to the floor around each pad, maybe a 12" diameter circle around each, so I can move the XI as needed to give access to the bookcase behind it. This has saved my floor (and my back!). Pledge makes wood floors mighty slick, and I wouldn't ordinarily use it because of the danger of slipping, but for this purpose I find it very helpful.
