...a fancy aftermarket cabinet specifically designed to house a table top Victrola?
...a home-made "folk art" cabinet?
...an off-brand model's empty cabinet converted to a Victor Frankenphone?

Can't decide whether it would look more at home in a Chapple o' Rest or a bordello
But either way interesting cabinet work on the outside - even it the iner is a bit gaudy!

You used to see those victors installed in various odd cabinets around now an then. Usually it was a small tabletop placed in a much larger cabinet, never could figure out what the advantage was too it? I agree it looks like coffin inside, not my idea of appealing.

I like the cabinet myself but the coffin silk under the lid needs to go. Creepy!

I wonder whats under the fabric in the lid. If there's a Victrola label there this could be a very rare machine...

On second thought, why would Victor use an XI model for such a fancy machine. Also there are no doors over the horn...

Maybe "Thing" was a music lover as well as an avid TV fan? It'd be perfect for him.
