Wow! We can discuss records by the Ku Klux Klan but God forbid we speak about anything of the birth of America. I guess I'm really disappointed that more veterans didn't speak up.................

I don't understand what you're talking about, or what it has to do with the context and origins of these discs I found.

earlyjukeman wrote:The song is to the tune of Casey Jones and it is anything but the Billy Murray version. I haven't played it in decades but the one verse I remember is "The teachers of the day preach a brand new plea, that we all came from the chimpanzee, that may be true in their case but on the other hand , no man with monkey blood can join the klan." The last line of the song instead of "You've got another papa on the rock island line", this one ends, "there will be a klansman in the white house if we all sit tight."
The thing about the KKK songs is that so many ripped off popular tunes. I wonder if they did a version of "The Old Rugged Cross" called the "The Old Burning Cross?"

In my mind, I hear something like:

"I will CLING to the old BURNING cross -- ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch...."

The KKK made records well in to the LP era. A collector in Lincolnshire who I visit sometimes once showed me an LP with some pretty racist songs on them. Obviously the singer was anonymous and there was no clue as to the origin of the record

I flipped through my copy of les docks' american record guide last night and according to that, this particular red KKK label with the cross image was produced in the 1920's. looking further through that book, though, I couldn't find listings for any particular titles or "artists," just the minimal information on the label and a photo of it.

I agree about the songs... the music is generic and rehashed, the words are another story.

??? Not sure what the reference is here either. There were a few threads in the music section of this forum regarding our country and the 4th of July.

If you do a completed items search for "KKK record" on ebay, you'll see a whole bunch of the 100% labels come up. I didn't know about these at all until today, and I've certainly never seen one in person. Here's one of the bunch:
