Any info on this cabinet

I've had this for awhile and haven't done anything with it. I think it was originally a cylinder cabinet as it had a couple of shelves inside that had what looked like the remnants of the cardboard posts that held the cylinders. Just wondering if anyone knows the maker and if it would be worth restoring (finding the right hardware etc.)

Looks like a Herzog to me. Regina used a similar cabinet for Reginaphones as well, that was divided into music box disc storage, record storage, and a drawer.

Thanks John. I use it store discs now but it could use some cleaning up. It's really heavy and seems to be built very well.

Thanks for posts. I was really dumb founded as to why someone would reply like that. I haven't been what you would call a "serious collector" of phonographs but have always found mechanical music machines fasinating. Over the last 40 years I have picked up several phonographs, music boxes and 2 organettes (nothing really rare but I like them) whenever I could afford them. Most were in need of repair and I enjoyed working on them. I was so happy to find this forum and be able to communicate with people that have the same interests. Thanks again and be assured that that post won't keep me from posting on this board as I have already discovered that most are very nice and helpful here. Jan

When I read it, I flagged the "guest" post for trolling, hoping that it would be taken down.

It's true that this forum, as is the case with most others, has its share--albeit a very small one-- of "post-n-run" type questions made by sellers who only want enough information to flesh out their eBay or craigslist ads. But in those cases, the respondents to the questions asked by the seller seldom get so much as a "go to hell" for their efforts. (Oddly enough, I seldom get so much as a "go to hell" for most of MY responses, but I digress....)

Had "guest" cleaned the "σκατά" out of his eyes and actually looked, he would have seen that Phonogal HAS posted other comments on this forum, and is obviously NOT in the habit of posting and running, and IS obviously interested in this hobby. But, trolls normally have weak eyes, and are unable to tell the proverbial you know what from a hole in the ground.

This is off topic, but, how did you get Greek characters in your post? What does the word mean? You can say it in German if you think the English will be offensive.

I went to the "Google Translate" site, typed in the "word," and clicked for the Greek word equivalent, and then copied and pasted it directly into my post.

So, if you highlight and copy the Greek "word in question" and then paste it into the box on this page -- http://translate.google.com/ -- you'll come up with the translation. (It will automatically detect the language and by default, translate it into English.)
