From what I understand, he will be pressing up 50 in Cylinder format. Thought this would be of interest......

Re: New cylinder recording....
This was a very fun project. I wish I could do projects like this all day, what I did not like was Chicago rush hour traffic. We had options of different recorders, and this is not the one I would have chosen, Thomas liked the clarity (which it does have.) of this circa 1898 standard speaker style with a two thousndths oven baked, victor green sleeve, shelackened bristol board diaphragm (used glass, mica, and copper for tests). We had Normal NOS late style recorders with more volume and sensitivity too. This basically is a brown wax era recording. We decided to give the record the feel of going back to 1900 and going to the talking machine shop, and purchasing eight of this artists cylinders and sat down and listening to them in your parlor. The cylinders do not have announcements, as it would break the flow of the record. You do hear the start and stop, of the Edison Triumph and reproducer lowered on the records. The phonograph and cylinder recording process immersed the artist in a kind of alchemic time travel fog, and he is now a Phonograph enthusiast. I made the blanks for this session, and recorded the analog master tape too. The cylinder single is released on the Duncan Miller process molded resin cylinders. The record is a 10" 45 rpm limited edition pressing,

Re: New cylinder recording....
Belive me, most on this board are most likely screaming and jumping up and down with anger because ."Shawn Borri" who knows nothing about wax formulas, and cylinder recording is involved. At any rate it was a fun project we tried several different recording diaphragms and recorders, mica, copper, glass, and different thicknesses, and horns. We settled on the beat up brass 30 inch horn, and early style standard speaker recorder with a Victor green bristol board, shellaced, and oven baked diaphragm, bout three thousndth thick. We transcribed the recording using a Neumann condenser microphone from 1966, and Pultec eqp 1-A and LA-1 limiter to master reel to reel at 15ips on 10 ½" reels . A model C reproducer and 56" brass horn used. The concept is important, we had in mind that you went to the talking machine store, purchased Thomas Negovan cylinders, and sat down with an evening listening to them on the Phonograph. The 45 rpm red vinal record even has the sound of the reproducer picked up and lowered on the cylinder. He describes what I am the best, I am not a collector, but a "mad audio scientist"! The cylinders that are released are made by the Duncan Miller process, in England. Everything should be ready in a few weeks.
