Wow, you found it fast! I just put it online 2 hours ago.
I like the machine its just really big, plus I am on the hunt for an American walnut
Victrola. I know I will need to have some more cash ready just in case one comes
along. I am considering selling my L-door as well, although that will take some
serious thought.

Its kind of a long story, but here goes. When I listed the machine there was no option for a reserve.
Not sure what I was doing wrong, but I could not find a reserve option anywhere. And yes, it does save money on the listing fee. If I was to have a starting price of $400 (the least I can accept),
then there would be excessive listing fees. So my "reserve" is built into the shipping fee as a simple, albeit unorthodox solution.

It did not occur to me that it would violate their TOS, but then again I have
never read it. I guess it would affect the final value fee also.
It would be quite manageable at a sales price of $1. Well worst case
they will shut down my auction I guess. Not so sure it will sell in any case, the
market is really sluggish now. I need to get one of those professional looking
white backgrounds like the guy who sold the Standard for $6K.

We have recently aquired one of those Musikhaus Merkur machines. They are made in Germany. This is all we're sure of and want to know if anyone else knows anything more about them. Ours is in very good condition and plays the old 78'sand 33 ⅓'s nicely. Ours has doors on the front of the cabinet which are volume controls depending on how wide you open them.
Any other help would be appreciated.
Ours also has a plaque on the inside of the top which says it was made in Dusseldorf at 86 Karlstrasse, which is Karl Street in that town.

Sounds like an internal horn model. Can you post some pictures please?

Unfortuately at present we can't post pictures as I use a library computer. But, yes it is an internal horn machine and is not a reproduction.
