Edison Amberol Ad from March 1913

Post by Lenoirstreetguy »

Here's an ad for the new Blue Amberol . I like the Edison Opera as the medium for listening to the new Blues as one lounges on the sofa. I've never seen this ad until today. It's taken from The Canadian Home Journal.

What an inspired use of simple black & white to create the art work for this advert. Glad that you posted this one, never have seen this ad before either.

A very attractive ad, although a bit silly. The machine appears to be sitting on the floor, making it very difficult to crank and change records - unless one had a little slave boy or girl seated on the floor. Given the wages of 1913, that would not be impossible.
