O/T thoughts on the forum design

Post by gramophone78 »

I have been thinking if there is a way to slightly re-design the forum. For example; I find a lot of valuable and useful information gets lost down the list under the catch all "machines" heading. This leads to repeats of topics which further leads to the original going down and lost. I'm thinking that a section for "Ebay & Craigslist" listing would help. Since we all seem to be on line.....I'm sure most see what is on EBay anyway. The same for Crapophones, etc..... Maybe, we just need a section for the real useful info to make it better. This is just my opinion. Any thoughts on this??.

Is there any way to make changes in the Forum? I have contacted both MordEth and Neophone about adding Wyatt's Musical Americana to the links section regarding parts & repair. I have tried personal messages and email and have not received a reply. Jerry Blais

I like it just the way it is. I have given up on many other fora because they are fussy and hard to use. This one seems clearly set out and easy to search. Just my two cents worth!

I don't care about the crapophone topics so I don't open or participate in those threads. I have not found it a problem to ignore them. Jerry Blais

It does not matter if it is EBEay or CL or even Crapophones. Each time a thread is placed in the "machine" section, the important & informative threads get bumped down, down and so on and so on. That even includes this very thread.

I'm thankful the forum is up and running... but that is all you should expect. Changes will not be made.

I agree. Leave it alone. It's fine the way it is. It's boring when everything is nothing but "useful" information.

And it's not as if the highly exciting craigslist & ebay stuff would be gone, so how would this make the board boring??
It would just be nice if a couple people learned the correct catagory to post this stuff.
Surely it's not too much trouble to read these rivetting ads in the yankee trader section?
If a thread is purely to inform others that something is for sale, then common sense is that it should be in the for sale section. End of story.

If it really bothers people that much just agree a protocol between the regular users of the forum whereby links to CL and ebay listings go in the "Links" section. Easy, and no forum redesign required :)

Of course the argument could roll on and on and become a rant about the site in general as it has in the past - but that wont change anything. You may as well find a way of accommodating such threads either in the main section or in the Links bit.

I dont agree with the moderation bit, Mordeth is very busy doing other things in the real world and Neophone is also not active on this forum, however spam is effectively mopped up by "Jumbo". There is a surprising amount of junk links etc - but it always dissapears into the eather surprisingly quickly.

Just my opinion, and im sure many will disagree, vocally :)

Wow
How sad.
This thread sure turned ugly fast... :o
There must be something in the water down under.
To be honest...I think it's the humor and variety on this website that actually breathes life into it and makes it different from all of the other cold, dead, impersonal websites where no one responds to anything and the last entry is two years old and involved 2 old men in Florida debating the pit falls of using after market screws.
Mea culpa
