Your honest opinions requested: What's a fair price?

Hi Guys, I'd like to know your opinions regarding a fair price for this Victrola VV-IV on eBay. It will probably go too high for me to win but one never knows. So, I know it's nothing most of you would be interested in as it's one of the most common machines but...what would be a fair price?

I'm no expert but I wouldn't want to go any higher than $150 or $200 on this or a VV-VI. At that price and above you can find floor models and consoles that will perform better. It's a sweet little machine though.

Personally, I would put $150 as my top end. This particular machine looks very clean and original. Take into account shipping and insurance in how much you will pay.

Also, the repro needs rebuilding (though not necessarily immediately) so, depending on your preference wrt this, you may or may not include that in the cost of acquisition.

And yes, the VV-IV is a sweet little machine. I love mine (and they don't take up much space )

In the end, if you really want it and can afford more, go for it.

They are nice little machines. I have both the IV and VI in my collection. There are deals out there, especially in this soft market for antiques of any type. I paid less than 100 dollars each for most of the machines in my collection. I have purchased all of my machines locally either through auctions or craigslist, so I am cannot really comment on Ebay auctions and/or prices.

The way the market is now I wouldn't pay more than $50 for a VV 4 or 6. I would be buying
those models for resale only however. If you want one for your collection, I would
say $150 tops.

I'm surprised that there were no bids at all for that price. It is a nice machine in good condition. Guess this shows the state of the market.

It seems to have been withdrawn from sale on eBay so the seller probably had a better offer elsewhere!

Hi guys!
Actually there were bids. Mine was the highest at the time the listing was removed...$155.51. The seller e-mailed me and said that when he was packing it he dropped it. According to him it hit the floor upside down causing substantial damage to the motor. Supposedly he will relist it after it's fixed.
Oh well. One always wonders when things like this happen.
