Wow, nice C-250, Jeff! I love my C-19, it was a basket case when I got it, in fact it actually got tipped over when a truck hit the building it was stored in. You'd never know it now and it certainly is my favorite "playing" DD machine.

Here's mine just after cleaning and waxing. It now has a nice NOS gold reproducer and I changed the grill cloth, but you get the idea....

Thanks, Sean. I love my oak C-19 because of how clean it is too, but the new 250 is my favorite. It was actually a display/demonstration machine used in an Edison dealer's shop in a small town near where I live back when the C-250 had just been released. Apparently, after it became obsolete, it sat in the shop until the late 60's when the business closed and the building was renovated. That's when the person I bought it from acquired it as her late husband owned the company doing the work in the building. It sat safe in her house ever since. She said she had never heard it play and when I played a disc for her, she couldn't believe it. She was very happy it was going to an owner who will appreciate it. I love knowing the history of a phonograph in my collection. It adds character and a uniqueness to any phonograph.

That's a great looking machine! How does the NOS reproducer sound?

It's by far the best sounding original reproducer I've ever heard, much louder and cleaner sounding than even the three Edisonics I have which were rebuilt by a pro. I haven't even replaced the gaskets in it yet, all I did was clean the pivots, free everything up and tighten the retaining ring a bit, the full rebuild will get done this fall, likely. I got lucky with the reproducer, it was on eBay a bit over a year ago and listed as a "victrola needle", so I think lots of people missed it. I won it for $35 and she threw in a really nice Kent adapter for laterals which I suspect was what the owner of the Edison these came from used since the DD reproducer didn't even have any dust on the stylus when I looked at it under magnification.
