Finding the right spring

Post by deghi »

I recently opened up the spring barrel on my Pathé motor that refused to wind and found a spring that was broken right through, naturally not near either end. I managed to remove it (still have all my fingers) and was wondering how to figure out what size to replace it with. The spring is ¾ in. wide and the spring barrel is 2 ¾ inches across.

I'd recommend first calling Ron Sitko to see if he has the specs for your machine and proper spring size and thickness. He'll likely have a replacement or perhaps make a custom replacement that will work. He has no website or email, but you can contact him at his phone number: 518-371-8549.
He's an authority on replacement motor parts.
