True indeed. You know, the 30's were a sophisticated decade: think of the songs by Cole Porter and Gershwin...or even lesser lights like Ralph Robin and Leo Rainger, whose Thanks for the Memory exhibits a suave witty maturity that is kinda lacking in most popular music since about 1980, but which was rather common in the 30's.

Thanks leniorstreetguy, The images that you have posted look to be indeed this set! I will work out my arrangements to acquire this set and go from there. Still have to contact the Victor discography people at UCSB, but time is on my side.
A thanks to the others that have responded to the post. Stay tuned for further developments!

Re: Victor Encyclopedia of Recorded Music??
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread - but I was listening to "The Magic Key of RCA" which I bought from onesmedia.com and on the programme I listened to yesterday, it was the first time I've even heard of the Victor Library of Recorded Music and the D22.
Does anyone know of a listing of what's on the recordings? Whilst I would never have a chance of getting the 78s in Australia, I'd love to get MP3s if anyone knows if they exist.
Regards, Glenn.

Re: Victor Encyclopedia of Recorded Music??
I had about 40-50 of those albums a long time ago that came out of a public library. I gave them all to a guy that was really interested in classical music as that's pretty much what all the one's I had were. It seems like there were red, green and tan colored covers. They were all mixed with 10" and 12" sleeves as well and I don't think I kept any of the albums. The dealer that I got them from said she had a whole bunch more, but I never went back to get them.
There was also all sorts (like 25-30 apple boxes) of loose, mostly acoustic records from the same library and almost all of them had library labels pasted on them. Oddly enough there was 21 or 22 Edison needle cut records in that mess! I sold those a long time ago as well, except for one that was cracked.
