This may be a silly question but I haven't seen a motor with this design before. I am assuming it is a Brunswick due to the B written on it and the governor guard. Does anyone know what it is?

brunswick, correct. I worked on one of these 5 or 6 years ago. the governor assemblies can be a pain due to the pot metal.

Thanks for the confirmation, Brian. Are you aware of any other motor with the spring barrels lined up like this? It's pretty interesting.

I saw this motor on eBay a little while ago and wondered what it
was from. When I saw the title of the post I knew what it was
about. Never saw anything like it before.

That's where I found it too. It was just listed again for $20.00. I wonder what Bruny model/models this was for.

It's a type B & was used in a few radiola models amoungst others. It's missing the bottom plate, but you could make one yourself if it came to a pinch. It doesn't really do anything except add strength to the cast pillars.

Thanks for the info G-Shane. You mentioned it was used in Radiola models. I thought those were only radios. Radiola was a type of phonograph too?

The radio phono combos by Brunswick were Brunswick Radiolas. They were sold with either spring or electric motors. Those by Victor were Victor Radiolas, and later, RCA Victor Radiolas. Columbia had Columbia-Kolsters etc.

Yup, that's the motor that is in my Brunswick BR-260. It's a super quiet motor, perhaps the quietest I've ever come across.

Re: What Kind Of Motor Is This?
Radiola was an RCA brand. Some phonograph makers (including Victor in the days when they were seperate companies) bought Radiola units from RCA to mount in their machines so they could meet the public demand for radio/phonograph combos.
