Edisonia Records

Post by Andersun »

I ordered a cylinder "Around the World on the Phonograph" from Edisonia to demonstrate my Polyphones. Anyone have experience with Edisonia? Their electrical pickups look cool too!

I have one of the pickups, referred to as an "ACT" pickup at the time I bought it over 10 years ago. They're great, I use mine on my Triumph when doing electric transfers for both 2 and 4 minute cylinders, it does a great job!

Steve - can you verify if these are wax or indestructible? It sounds like they are wax.

I am getting way too used Vulcan style indestructible records - I love those! Worth every penny.

Mt Phono, from the Edisonia website.....

In 2011 we are offering limited quantities of new cylinder records made of durable, long lasting resins.

Steve - Where did you see that? I've read the site a number of times and still dont see it! Are you saying that I need glasses???

I am going to order many of their offerings. I like the idea of resins over wax. Hopefully they are as good as the Vulcans.

Hit the "about" tab and scroll down to bottom with your glasses on! The blanks are made out of wax, records out of resin.

Vulcan makes cylinders for a lot of companies that market them under their own label.

About tab? That makes almost no sense. They should have mentioned this on the SHOP section (where it is actually relevant!). In any case that is great news. I've ordered the two pack.

Thanks for letting us know about the Edisonia records - I had no idea they were being offered.

Stephen - are you saying that Vulcan is making these too?

I agree, a description of the construction and design of the records should be at the very top of the record selection page.
