Spring barrels in parallel yield playing time; in opposition, power. This motor has the advantage of both.

Does anyone know how many 10" records that I should be able to play with a motor like that? I just bought a Brunswick with the same motor, but it won't play through even 2 records. The turntable is slow to spin up and has little power. The motor (including the governor pads) appears to be well-lubricated, so it seems that something else is wrong. I plan to do a complete disassembly if necessary to track the problem down.

I checked my Brunswick model 35 upright and it uses this same motor. Yes, it is one of the most quiet motors you may come across. The plate on the bottom which is missing is supposed to be a painted tin. It's squarish with rounded corners and the sides are all curled up a bit to work as an oil drip pan.
