Here is another Coronation record, this time commemorating King George VI in 1937. and issued on the popular priced Rex label.
Does anyone know whether a label was issued for the Coronation of King Edward VIII, which of course never took place. I have never seen one, but many other commemorative souvenirs of this non-event were sold, and still turn up.

Re: 1937 CORONATION RECORD
There was one and some collectors have oopies of it, even though it was withdrawn and all copies were deatroyed. Like there were two versions of a song for the birth of a royal prince(ss) in 1937 in The Netherlands. The issued version is quite common, the withdrawn one is extremely rare. Like Vdiscs, you can't get them all back.

Re: 1937 CORONATION RECORD
I've had this set for about 5 years now but have only listened to parts of it. Its the entire coronation ceromony on 15 double sided 12" 78s plus the coronation speech given by the new king in the evening. Its copied directly from the 16" transcription disks and the end of each 16" disk doesn't always co-inside with the end of each 12" disk and so occasioanlly there is a sudden jump in sound quality part way through some of the sides.
It comes in a nice purple file with a booklet explaining the different parts of the ceremony. Nice thing to have, but I can't imagine ever sitting down and listening to the whole thing....nor I think did the original owner...as the records look unplayed and don't even have any marks around the spindles holes on any but the first few records.
