It doesn't sound as bad as I have expected, but looks pretty scary to me - I wouldn't dare to do this! :o

I think it sounds amazing, with no blasting at all. Many cheap portables didn't sound much better. Shows you how good even those early ones really were.

There is no digital music media that will ever be capable of such longevity. 60 years or so in this case. About the same (so far) with vinyl albums.

I have also done it occasionally with worn records or in times when all electric equipments were out of service. They sound pretty good, provided that the soundbox is fitted with a very soft tone needle like an Ondulette.
