EDUARD COMMETTE (1883-1967) was one of the most preeminant organists in France during the twentieth century. Born in Lyon, Commette studied piano at the Lycee de Bourg-en-Bresse. He returned to Lyon making his debut as an organist in 1900. Commette served as organist for the Cathedral of Lyon as well as the Cathedral of St. Jean in Lyon, a post he held for over fifty years. His published works include a few organ compositions as well as harmonic studies.

Very nice. I once sang baritone in a chorus in the cantata-version of this chorale. Back in '84 or thereabouts!
