Several years ago I worked with the Irish artist Duke Special. The session took place at Pogo studios in Champagne IL, we recorded several cylinder records and one was released on "Never thought This Day would Come." This video contains a brief clip of them making a wax master, at Pogo, you can see the required amount of swarf needed to make a good recording. Dr. Mark Rubel is the studio owner, and teaches professional audio production, the studio has a wonderful collection of equipment such as Fairchild limiters, Pultec Eqs, original tube pres made by Bill Putnam, an early Moog synth that takes up a whole wall., lots of tube and ribbon microphones. The mixing console was from Fantasy studios CCR.
