According to the new Oakley/Proudfoot book (page 41), it's a Senior Monarch (or Monarch Senior), Model VII, Nov 1910 - Dec 1913.

How does ebay work and where are the items stored? Is it a place for the sellers to send items to and people purchase online, or do people sell it from their own home. Its my 1st time buying something off ebay, and worried i'll be scammed. What if the sellers keep the items while you purchase it? Is there anyway they can scam?

Looks like the seller removed the listing.

if you're not joking, then why not just take a look at the ebay web site, it explains itself pretty well - it's an online auction.

Hi All,
The seller is now in Spain-he needed to leave for business and ended the listing. I have emailed and spoken to him and I have his selling price and we have emailed back and forth. We will see where this goes.

Abe,

Just an FYI...I posted this ad because I was going for this machine. However, after emailing the "seller," and doing some personal research of my own, I am concerned that this might be a fraudulent listing. After some discussion on condition and price, I was given a Moneybookers invoice. Just to play it safe, I called Moneybookers and asked about the transaction ID on the invoice...Moneybookers said that not only was the transaction ID not in their system, but that the transaction ID is never written in letter and number format as it was on the invoice, just numbers. There are numerous other red flags. Moneybookers doesn't use an agent bank as this seller, "Marshall Hunter," suggests in his invoice, and basically told me that the invoice I had received was not real. Also, while the purported seller's name and address match under the Maricopa County Arizona property tax records, I can't find a working phone number for that address. I asked the seller if I could call him at some number via Skype while he was overseas, or if we could use Paypal, credit card, or something of that sort, and he said that wouldn't be possible. Additionally, the pictures used on the ebay listing show up on the "phonautographist" blog, which stated that the pictures came from a 2010 ebay listing.

If it is actually legit, my hat's off to you. Otherwise, Caveat emptor.

Quality and rarity of machine and price are not in balance. The horn alone is worth double the asking price. I've never seen one that good.
Caveat emptor indeed.

Hi Garrett,
I don't know why people do the stuff they do and waste everyone's time. You did a great deal of work to track this person down and he is in my back yard. I have been running a training session this weekend for Rotary so I did not ck the board or my emails since Friday. I will keep you posted if this looks legit. Penman (George) are friends and he sent me a heads up as well. Will keep you posted it anything comes of this.
